Six degrees of Sketchy
For the seventeenth Dr. Sketchy model Zachariah posed for us along with his fancy guitar. We don't get many guys posing for us, but he was great and could hold a pose like nobody. My interpretations look a bit like Kevin Bacon crossed with Chris Isaak. So if you ever need to know how those two are connected, now you know. The last drawing is from a fifteen minute round robin that two other people finished from my original sketch.

"I'm The Dude, man!"
Upon multiple viewings of that classic film The Big Lebowski, I thought it only proper to render The Dude (Jeff Bridges), Walter (John Goodman), and even Donny (Steve Buscemi) as they might appear in a Saturday morning cartoon. The Dude abides.

I'm just a walkin' my dog, singin' my song...
I took a trip down to the Detroit Institute of Arts a few weeks ago to see Nellie McKay perform in Rivera Court. We saw her back in December in Aimee Mann's Xmas Extravaganza. She was goofy and fun in a cute way.
Due to a flat tire she was running a bit late. And so were we as seating was all but gone when we got there (Azucena had the last chair and I sat on the planter at the side - not very comfortable after an hour and a half).
We only knew the couple songs we heard in December, but soon realized that we knew a bunch more from hearing them on WDET back when they still played music. So here's my view of her. She's kind of a characature already. And you gotta love a chick who plays the ukulele!

HATCHeted
HATCH, the art group I belong to is putting on their second annual HATCHback show next weekend. Seeing as how I had managed to get something in last year's show I pulled several pieces out and submitted them to the jury for this year, hoping beyond hope I'd get something in. Aaaaannnnndddd....? Denied. Which is okay because I really wasn't happy with anything I did (except for the dancers). And now I don't have to scramble around getting prints made and framing them.
But I did manage to get something in through the back door in a way. I was asked to do the official mailer postcard announcing the show. So I got that going for me. Which is nice. Below are my entries followed by the postcard (which I entered as well at the last minute). Oh well. Whaddaya gonna do?
